During the woodland experience children explore their surroundings, investigate creatures in their habitats and finding out about how seasonal changes affect the environment. It is wonderful to witness their enthusiasm and excited squeals - often before we have even reached the woods themselves!
As well as the obvious health benefits of spending time outdoors, studies have shown that it improves language and communication, encourages personal and social development, promotes cognitive development and a greater sense of achievement for children.
Here at the Wolds, we are committed to encourage every child to experience and learn about their environment.
Although these sessions will be loosely 'planned' in accordance with the EYS framework, the main objectives will be to involve and enthuse all children in participating and enjoying these natural surroundings. We are fortunate to have access to private woodlands which are not accessible to the general public.
Rest assured that we provide a safe, well -staffed environment and that children are all transported appropriately in a fully insured vehicle.
"Karen's educational background ensures that children make exceedingly good progress at The Wolds - We have been genuinely impressed with the development Stanley has made over the past 2 years. We believe this is due to the value she places on staff training and putting highly qualified and experienced professionals in key roles - something which is not always a priority in other nurseries. The Forest School is a unique activity, which we hope Stanley will be able to take part in next year. We have every confidence in the provision provided, for all aspects of Stanley's needs."
